Raise the district's budget reserve goal to 7%
IN SHORT
Goal: The district keeps a reserve of at least 7% of general fund spending.
Result: Goal met. Public documents show the goal was met.
The board updated its budget policy to keep a larger safety cushion: a reserve equal to at least 7% of general fund spending, up from 5%. The district said a bigger reserve would help it handle uncertainty as it moved to being funded mainly by local property taxes.
