Your information

Privacy

Receipts collects as little as possible. Here's exactly what happens with your information.

Last updated October 12, 2026.

No student data

Receipts is built only from public board documents: agendas, minutes, and budget reports. It never asks for, receives, or stores information about students.

Just browsing

Receipts doesn't use advertising, cookies for tracking, or accounts. If you switch between light and dark mode, or close a site notification, that choice is saved only in your own browser so the site remembers it.

To count visits, Receipts uses GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly service that doesn't use cookies or collect personal information. It records only things like which page was viewed, the general type of device and browser, and the country, never who you are.

The site is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify may keep basic technical logs (such as IP addresses) to run and protect the site.

If you send a message

The contact and corrections forms send your message, email address, and (if you give them) your name and, for district questions, your district and role, to Ethan Bell by email, using a service called Web3Forms. Your information is used only to read and reply to your message. It is never published or sold, and it isn't shared with anyone except the services that deliver it.

If you follow a decision

"Follow this decision" and "Get every new stamp by email" sign-ups are handled by Buttondown, an email newsletter service. You'll only get the emails you signed up for: updates about the decisions you follow, or a short note when new stamps or district responses are published. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Your email address is never sold, and it isn't shared with anyone except Buttondown, which sends the emails.

"Ask for an update" drafts

Anything you type into the draft tools ("Ask for an update" and "Ask your district") stays on your device. Receipts never sends those drafts. You choose whether to send them yourself. If you use "Open in my email app" on the Ask your district page, the draft adds Ethan Bell as a copy (CC) so he can follow up; you can remove him before sending.

Children

Receipts is not directed to children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their information.
